"How genes and life experience shape the brain: New insights through MRI"

Scientists have discovered that we are not the product of "nature versus nurture", but rather the product of nature and nurture interacting with each other. The same stressful life experience, for example, can have vastly different effects on two individuals. How is that possible, and what role does the brain play? The latest application of MRI is beginning to address these questions, carrried out in the laboratory of Dr. Canli at Stony Brook University.
